Last year Huw Whitney won this title with relative ease but this year he faced very stiff competition from his compatriot and Worlds 2007 referee, Peter Dale. But in the end Huw did manage to gather the required votes to ensure that he retains his title and be named as the most popular (not a term often used in this category) referee on the scene at the moment.

Peter’s outstanding display at the World Championships sees him take a very deserved runner-up spot.

I fall from second to third but given the fact that I don’t remember actually refereeing a competition last year I’d say that is still more than generous!!
